Nearly 20 reporters infected with COVID-19 in Azerbaijan

“In Azerbaijan, there are cases of COVID-19 infection among journalists as well. Earlier, there was no single media representative among the infected, but today the situation has worsened.”

The statement came from Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijani Press Council Mushfig Alasgarli, Report says.

So far, 18 correspondents have contracted coronavirus in the country, of which one passed away, he said.

Azerbaijan has 16,968 confirmed cases and 206 related deaths. The country’s recoveries stand at 9,369, the treatment of 7,393 people is underway. A total of 475,525 coronavirus tests have been conducted across the country.

The government imposed strict quarantine regime in Baku, Sumgayit, Absheron, Ganja, Yevlakh, Jalilabad, Lankaran and Masalli cities and Absheron region from June 21 to July 5. People are allowed to leave their places of residence only upon permission by sending a text message.
