Baku. 24 May. REPORT.AZ/ Heads of leading Georgian online media resources hold discussions with Azerbaijani media. 

During the trip of the Georgian journalists to Azerbaijan organized by Report Information Agency

First, Georgian media captains visited "Report" Information Agency.The editor-in-chief of the agency Murad Aliyev familiarized the guests with the editorial staff and talked about the news policy of Report. M. Aliyev said that the accuracy, reliability of the information produced by the agency are main focus of attention.He underlined the sensitivity of the news on relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia in various spheres.

It was noted that, the main purpose of the visit is to establish direct contacts between media representatives of Azerbaijan and Georgia, create a unified platform to act in the same position in the issues of national interests and promote the dissemination of important news, photo and video materials in both countries.

The guests got acquainted with the organization of the work in the editorial office, news production process, creation of multimedia content and the translation department.

Then, heads of several Georgian media outlets visited APA Holding.

The Georgian media representatives met with Nurshan Guliyev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of APA Holding, Director General of APA Information Agency. Nurshan Guliyev expressed satisfaction with the Georgian journalists’ visit to Baku. He provided detailed information to the guests about APA Holding, adding that the company has a number of overseas bureaus in several countries, including Georgia.

N. Guliyev underscored the need to strengthen cooperation with Georgia’s media outlets. He said that the Azerbaijani media are attentive to the events happening in Georgia.

The director general of APA Information Agency expressed hope that his Georgian colleagues will assist in conveying to the international community Azerbaijan’s fair position on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

In turn, the guests emphasized their interest in effective cooperation with Azerbaijan’s media outlets.

The sides then exchanged views on a number of issues. At the end, the Georgian media representatives toured APA Holding’s office.

Also there was a meeting with Georgia’s media representatives in Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC). At the meeting with the staff of the various editorial offices of the Agency, exchange of information about the conflict zones in the South Caucasus and the role of mass media in this process were discussed. Various aspects of the Azerbaijani-Georgian economic cooperation were discussed and the preparations for the remarkable event for both countries- the 100th Anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic were touched upon. Georgian journalists were informed about the history of AZERTAC. It was noted that AZERTAC is the only source of official state information for local and foreign media outlets. It was stressed that, along with official information this information agency releasing public, political and economic news in 7 languages, as well as reliable and operative information on science, education, culture, health, sports, environment and other fields.

Representatives of the Georgian media Ketevan Khositashvili, Ketevan Khatiashvili, Ucha Kandelaki and others noted their interest in exchanging experience with their Azerbaijani counterparts. It was stressed that common values, geographical proximity, historical ties and other factors play a significant role here. An important role was played by the media that served as a bridge between the government and civil society. The sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation between the media structures of Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Later a meeting with Georgia’s media representatives was held in Trend News Agency.

Welcoming the guests, Editor-in-Chief of Trend News Agency Ilaha Mammadli updated them about the agency's activity, its products, news covering the Caspian region, the South Caucasus and Central Asia.

The guests were particularly interested in the methodology of Trend's work with information sources, in particular, the sources from Georgia. They stressed that they are reading the news published on www.trend.az and www.day.az websites with great interest.

The experience of Azernews - a popular English-language Azerbaijani newspaper - which has a wide audience of readers, attracted the attention of the guests.

Following the meeting, close cooperation was proposed to be established between the Trend News Agency and Georgian media outlets.

Georgian online media outlets also visited Information and Analytical Portal of Haqqin.az and Virtualaz.org. Founder of Haqqin.az and Virtualaz.org portals Eynulla Fatullayev welcomed the guests and gave detailed information about the work of the editorial staff.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the issues of public interest both in Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Director of www.accent.com.ge, Ucha Kandelaki, said that the website she heads is specializing in the coverage of military conflicts in the South Caucasus. Director of www.accent.com.ge, Ucha Kandelaki stressed that it is very important to disseminate detailed information in the media of Azerbaijan and Georgia about the conflicts existing in the territories of two countries.

At the meeting, special attention was paid to the development of tourism in Azerbaijan and Georgia in recent years and contribution of the media to this work was noted.
