Germany bans Russian TV channel

The German regulator MABB has banned the RT DE from broadcasting in German due to a lack of a license, Report informs.

RT DE Productions has four weeks to challenge this decision in the administrative court.

European satellite operator Eutelsat 9B has removed the German-language TV channel RT DE, broadcasting from a studio in Moscow, from its platform at the request of the German media regulator MABB. An investigation has been initiated about RT. The head of the regulator, Eva Fleken, said that the channel did not have a license to broadcast programs in German.

The press service of the RT DE called the regulator's actions illegal and stated that they "violate the European Convention on Transboundary Television (ECTT)." Russia's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has demanded that the OSCE condemn the actions of the German authorities against RT.

The Russian side is ready to introduce restrictions and fines against YouTube and the German media in Russia.
