Baku hosts training for journalists on preventing and combating hybrid threats

A two-day seminar for journalists “Media and hybrid attacks” has started its work at ADA University in Azerbaijan with the aim to help media professionals be prepared for such threats and be able to prevent them, Report informs.

The training was organized by Media Development Agency and ADA University with the participation of Finnish Ambassador to the South Caucasus Kirsti Narinen and Finnish experts.

During the seminar, it was emphasized that these training seminars, conducted by foreign experts, were organized not for the first time.

Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Kirsti Narinen noted that in our time, the boundary between information based on reality and fiction has blurred. This makes this kind of training for journalists even more important so that they can better navigate the hybrid threat environment.

A hybrid threat is a concept that describes a challenge for the entire 21st century, she said, adding that the main purpose of such attacks is to influence the social and economic processes in the country and destabilize the situation.

The ambassador stressed that the two-day workshop will raise important questions about how to deal with hybrid threats.
