Illegal exploitation of Azerbaijan's wealth continues in the areas where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed, Head of the International Eurasian Press Fund Umud Rahimoglu told Report.
The NGO chairman emphasized that Azerbaijan's civil society has been holding a legitimate protest for two days.
"Day by day, this action is getting stronger, the number of people coming to the area is increasing. During the 30-year occupation, underground and surface resources of Azerbaijan were looted. World states and international organizations have been silent on this vandalism. Our position is right, and sooner or later, this problem should be solved.
"In protest against the illegal exploitation of Azerbaijan's resources, the action is being held at the initiative of Azerbaijan's NGOs operating in the field of ecology. Unfortunately, the Russian peacekeepers interfered with our civil society institutions and created an obstacle to the said monitoring. Information is spreading in the Armenian segment of social networks that Azerbaijani activists have allegedly blocked the road. But these reports are entirely misinformation. Just the other way wound, it is the peacekeepers that have blocked our way. I am here as a civil society representative, and I am showing solidarity with my fellow citizens."
