Belgrade sees hope in the restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and Baku’s control over Karabakh to resolve the issue of separatism in Serbia, Serbian political scientist Mirko Dautovic told Report.
“Official Belgrade sees hope in the measures, as a result of which Baku regained full control over its Karabakh region, that someday a similar development of events may occur regarding Kosovo,” he said.
The political scientist also noted that the Balkans are an example of how a region full of ethnic conflicts can coexist in peace:
“The example I would offer from the Balkans is that common economic interests can overcome ethnic tensions and countries' fears that their neighbors want a piece of their territory. Armenia has a lot to gain from becoming an economic partner of Baku, Ankara and Tbilisi. I view the decision of Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan to recognize the borders of Azerbaijan at the European meeting in Granada [European Political Community summit] as a good step in the right direction.”
