Pakistani Foreign Minister calls on Armenia to withdraw troops from occupied territories of Azerbaijan

Pakistani Foreign Minister Mahmood Qureshi called on Armenia to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and withdraw its troops from Nagorno-Karabakh. Report informs citing the ARYNews that Qureshi spoke at a meeting of the contact group of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in New York. The diplomat stressed that Pakistan opposes any attempt to change the status of any disputed territory and expressed hope that Armenia, observing international laws, will play its role in resolving the long-standing conflict.

The Foreign Minister of Pakistan noted that at least a million people have been displaced as a result of the conflict since 1994. According to him, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is a serious threat to regional peace, as is the situation around Kashmir.
