The co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Ian Liddell-Grainger and Lise Christoffersen visited Azerbaijan’s Aghdam, Report informs.
During the visit, the co-rapporteurs got acquainted with the war crimes committed by Armenia in Aghdam, as well as with the construction and restoration work carried out after the city's liberation.
They were informed about the buildings and historical monuments of Azerbaijan that were subjected to Armenian brutality.
During the familiarization with the Aghdam Friday (Juma) Mosque, the co-rapporteurs of PACE were informed about the war crimes committed by Armenians and the destruction of our cultural, historical, and religious monuments. It was noted that after the liberation of the city of Aghdam from occupation, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation started restoration work on Juma Mosque.
The guests got acquainted with the ruins of Aghdam, which was razed to the ground due to Armenian brutality, and viewed the intact wall of the Drama Theater.
They were also informed about the city's reconstruction work, called the “Hiroshima of the Caucasus.”
