By refusing to participate in the trilateral meeting in Moscow, the Armenian foreign minister missed the opportunity, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference following a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov in Moscow, the Russian bureau of Report informs.
“Conflicts will continue even longer if every time after any incident one of the parties refuses to agree on rounds of negotiations. This has never done anyone any good. And even in terms of conveying their position to the world community, our Armenian colleague has also lost here,” said Lavrov.
According to the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Azerbaijani minister detailed Baku’s vision of the current situation.
“If Mr. Mirzoyan [Armenian foreign minister] confirmed his participation, fulfilled the agreements, he would have the same opportunity. The world community could draw conclusions,” Lavrov added.
On December 23, a meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia was planned in Moscow to discuss the preparation of a peace treaty, but Yerevan refused to participate in the meeting.
