Kremlin: UN peacekeepers can be deployed in Karabakh with consent of Azerbaijan and Armenia

The deployment of the UN Security Council peacekeeping mission in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is temporarily stationed, is possible only with the consent of both sides, the Russian President's Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on January 11 when commenting on the views of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan regarding the deployment of international peacekeepers in the region, Report informs.

“There are constant professional contacts at various levels. However, it is clear that any mission can be sent only with the consent of both parties,” he said.

Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan earlier said that after the end of the mandate of the Russian contingent in 2025, Yerevan would appeal to the UN Security Council asking to send international peacekeepers to Karabakh.
