John Batchelor Show highlights Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

The Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict was discussed at a popular American radio program “The John Batchelor Show.”

According to the embassy, professor at Georgetown University, international energy specialist Brenda Shaffer and Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the United States Elin Suleymanov attended the program.

The famous journalist John Batchelor questioned Ambassador Elin Suleymanov about the current situation of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and details of the problems. He also asked questions about the regional situation, difficulties during the pandemic.

Suleymanov said the decline in oil price affected Azerbaijan, but the government is conducting reforms to reduce the dependence on oil and diversify the economy.

The ambassador noted that Armenia, along with occupying 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territories and causing nearly 1 million people to be deprived of their homes, also prevents regional development and integration. He said that the current leadership of Armenia damages not only Azerbaijan and the region but also the future of its people by continuing its aggressive and chauvinist policy.

Another guest of the program, professor Brenda Shaffer shared her views about the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict and ways of its settlement.

In the end, Brenda Batchelor offered condolences to families of those killed by Armenians on the frontline in recent days.
