Armenia is doing its best to lose the possible peace with Azerbaijan, Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration said in an interview with the Israeli i24NEWS TV, Report informs.
Hajiyev noted that for Azerbaijan, the war is over. "But, unfortunately, what we see from the Armenian side, the Armenian side is doing all the best to lose peace. But we do not want to give a chance to lose peace,” the presidential aide said.
According to Hikmat Hajiyev, Azerbaijan offered Armenia to sign a peace treaty. This process is supported by the United States and a number of other countries.
However, the second important stage is the reintegration of Karabakh into the political, economic and social spectrum of Azerbaijan.
"But, unfortunately, what we see on the ground is a separatist entity subordinated to Armenia and financed and also supported by Armenia. They would like to maintain their gray zone status and not to integrate into Azerbaijan’s political, social, economic life," he said, noting that, in turn, Azerbaijan built new roads and also connected them with the rest of the country.
“The Lachin-Khankandi road connects mainly Armenia to Karabakh. But we also say there is the Adam-Khankendi road, which is flat, more efficient, and logistics and transport-wise it has much more capabilities and it has direct access to all markets of Azerbaijan, including all markets of the neighboring countries. In a sense, the Armenian residents of Karabakh will have a better chance to communicate internally within Azerbaijan and in some other regional countries as well. Therefore, it is an opportunity. It is also an opportunity for the reintegration process. But you see, they say no.”
