France needs to stop its anti-Azerbaijani policy and take the side of justice - to support the legitimate right of Azerbaijan to control its borders for security purposes, Pakistani analyst in the field of international relations Khalid Taimur Akram told Report.
He was commenting on the statement of the French Foreign Ministry, made after a telephone conversation between Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna and her Armenian counterpart.
“The installation of the Lachin checkpoint is absolutely legal and necessary. Azerbaijan, like any sovereign state, must control its borders: everyone who passes through them, as well as everything they transport,” he said.
In his words, France “completely succumbed to Armenia’s propaganda about the ‘humanitarian crisis’ allegedly formed in the Garabagh region of Azerbaijan.” At the same time, according to the publications of the Armenian residents of Garabagh themselves, there is no shortage of food or electricity in Khankandi.
“France has never attached any importance to the mass expulsion of Azerbaijanis from Armenia and Garabagh, the war crimes committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis,” Taimur Akram noted, adding that now France’s ‘active involvement’ demonstrates the one-sided orientation of its ‘policy of humanism’ - some deserve it, others don't.
Such pro-Armenian statements by France, which was a member of the former OSCE Minsk Group, once again confirm the statements of Azerbaijan that over the years the structure has done nothing to achieve peace between the countries.
