Expert: Europe accepts new reality in Karabakh

Recent statements by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and other EU officials show that Europe is accepting the new reality created after local anti-terrorism measures carried out by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, American journalist, national security analyst, lawyer Irina Tsukerman told Report.

According to her, nevertheless, questions remain about how some in the world perceive the situation in Karabakh.

“Almost everyone, including post-Soviet states, continues to use the term ‘Nagorno-Karabakh’ and believes in the Armenian narrative about the supposed thousand-year presence of Armenians in Karabakh, and does not want to understand that this is a legal fiction created by the Soviet Union specifically to control the population,” Tsukerman said.

The expert added that Azerbaijan must continue to demonstrate its commitment to the rule of law and the peaceful reintegration of all its citizens.
