Elchin Amirbayov: Azerbaijan doesn't intend to limit rights of Karabakh's Armenian population

The Azerbaijani side does not intend to limit in any way the rights and opportunities of Karabakh Armenians to use their native language, culture and religion, the representative of the President of Azerbaijan for special assignments, Ambassador Elchin Amirbayov, said in an interview with the BBC News, Report informs.

Amirbayov noted that the only red line Azerbaijan will never allow to be crossed is something that could call its sovereignty and territorial integrity into question.

According to him, Azerbaijan and Armenia have no other choice but to simply be good neighbors.

“If we do not have any reason to remain hostile towards each other, if, at the highest political level, both leaders have announced that they recognize each other’s territory, if they also have announced that we are neighbors and we are confined by geography and there is no other choice than to be just good neighbors, why would not normal people overstep this perception of the arrival of an enemy?” he said.

The presidential representative noted that the Azerbaijani military tried to do everything possible to prevent any possible casualties among the civilian population during the recent anti-terrorist measures, which took place with lightning speed.

He stressed that they lasted less than one day and were conducted with high precision to neutralize legitimate military targets.
