CSTO: Aggravation on Armenian-Azerbaijani border must be resolved by political, diplomatic means

"We believe that the conflict should be resolved only by peaceful, political and diplomatic means," said the press secretary of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Vladimir Zainetdinov, Report informs via RIA Novosti.

“The CSTO is closely monitoring the situation. Officially, the secretariat has not received any appeal from the Armenian side,” he said.

The units of the Armenian Armed Forces committed a large-scale provocation against Azerbaijan on the Kalbajar and Lachin sections of the state border. According to the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, Armenian military units launched a surprise military operation on November 16 at 11:00 am (GMT +4) to seize heights in this direction of the state border and gain more advantageous positions with military superiority. The offensive of the Armenian army units, seeking to achieve a short-term advantage by resorting to a large-scale provocation, suffered a complete failure in the operational and tactical aspects.
