Armed incidents testify to the importance of the early signing of a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia, international expert, board member of the Jamestown Foundation and former US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza told Report.
“In any case, these sorts of incidents can be expected to continue unless/until the international boundary is demarcated between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the two countries’ leaders agree and sign a peace treaty,” he said.
Since the morning of September 1, the units of the Armenian armed forces located in the Zod direction of the Basarkechar region have been shelling the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the Kalbajar direction from small arms of various calibers, mortars, artillery mounts and attack UAVs. As a result of the Armenian provocation, three Azerbaijani servicemen were injured.
