Azerbaijan won the Second Karabakh War, as a result of which the territories of the country, which had been under occupation for many years, were liberated, including its cultural capital, Shusha. This year Shusha was declared the capital of the Turkic world, Deputy Secretary General of the TURKSOY Bilal Cakici said at the 9th Meeting of the National Commissions for UNESCO of the TURKSOY Member States held April 7 at ADA University, Report informs.
“Shusha will play a huge role in the unification of the Turkic countries,” he said.
He noted that it is necessary to devote more time and effort to the preservation of the Turkic heritage. “We must put efforts to preserve and promote our common values,” he added.
TURKSOY celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. This event is planned to be celebrated at UNESCO, after December 15 is declared the day of the Turkic language within this international organization, he noted, adding that TURKSOY is in close contact with the national commissions of UNESCO.
