Azerbaijani environmental activists holding a protest rally in Karabakh will continue it until the commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces, Major General Andrey Volkov, arrives at the site, Azerbaijani eco-activist Konul Alizade told Report’s correspondent at the scene.
According to her, the protesters demand to conduct monitoring in order to protect the natural resources of Azerbaijan:
“We demand to carry out monitoring in order to get acquainted on the spot in what condition our natural resources are now. However, the peacekeepers do not give us permission,” she said.
Alizade stressed that the protesters are waiting for representatives of the peacekeepers: “We are waiting for the commander of the peacekeepers, Major General Andrey Volkov, to come and listen to our demands, but he has not come yet. The rally has been held for more than two hours, but there is no result yet,” she added.
On December 12 in Shusha, Azerbaijani activists and members of environmental non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are holding a protest rally on a section of the highway under the temporary control of Russian peacekeepers, demanding an end to environmental terror in the Karabakh economic region.
