Baku. 17 November. REPORT.AZ / 12 years after the start of construction, a new luxury hotel in an abandoned quarry was opened in the suburbs of Shanghai. Report informs citing the TASS that the uniqueness of the project is that the building is underground, and the lower floors are submerged in water.

Designed as a sports and entertainment resort, InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland looks like part of a cliff and goes underground for 88 meters. The subterranean 17-floor hotel is about an hour's drive from the centre of Shanghai, with room charges starting at 3,394 yuan ($490) a night.
