Second person with artificial heart appeares in the world

Baku. 8 September. REPORT.AZ/ French doctors had an operation on transplanting an artificial heart for the second time in history. Report informs citing AFP, it was said in a statement of Carmat, which experts worked on creation of the organ.

Transplant operation passed a few weeks ago at the medical center of Nantes in secrecy. Artificial heart weighing 900 grams was transplanted to a patient suffering from overweight.

The world's first transplant operation of artificial heart was held in mid-December 2013 at the European Hospital Georges Pompidou. However, the 76-year-old man, who was transplanted this bioprosthesis, died after 2.5 months due to a malfunction of its mechanism.
