Potentially dangerous asteroid approaching Earth

Asteroid 2016 AJ193 from the class of potentially dangerous will approach the Earth on August 21, though posing no threat to the planet, the Moscow planetarium said, Report informs, citing RIA Novosti.

"There is a whole class of asteroids which are called 'asteroids approaching the Earth.' Those that can approach the Earth to a distance of 7.5 million kilometers or less in the foreseeable future are considered potentially dangerous. According to NATO specialists, asteroid 2016 AJ193 will be at a maximally close distance of around 3.4 million kilometers from Earth on August 21. The diameter of the flying asteroid is estimated at around 1.4 kilometers," the planetarium said.
