Georgian archaeologists have discovered 72 tombs from the Hellenistic period in the village of Nichbisi, 17 kilometers from the ancient capital of Georgia - the city of Mtskheta, Report informs referring to Georgian media.
“Rare things were discovered. Among them are iron tools, jewelry and unique ceramic items,” said the expedition leader, Professor Alexander Noneshvili.
According to the professor, excavations continue on the territory of the discovered Samtavra burial ground and on the site where the ancient settlement - "nakalakari" - was previously located.
The discovered archaeological artifacts date back to the 4th century BC and are stored in the historical and archaeological museum of the European University.
