Dior‘s Kim Jones referenced Jack Kerouac, the beat generation, YSL, Marc Bohan, and Christian Dior’s literary passions for the house’s Fall 2022 collection, but the footwear designer Thibo Denis took a more tactile approach, looking toward the world of hiking for his range of shoes. Now, Dior has released the H-Town sandal in a black colorway and a beige colorway, infiltrating its design with plenty of hiking and nautical references.
Report informs, citing Hypebeast, that, for example, calfskin nubuck combines with technical webbing fabric to create a padded, supportive design to slide your feet into, while ropes — like those used when climbing a mountain face — are used to form the vamp structure, adding that welcoming touch of hiking reference.
The “CD” logo adorns plastic clips that buckle together to keep your foot in place, while further Dior branding appears on the heel, inside on the insole, and more can be seen on the ultra-lightweight rubber outsole. As expected with the house, nothing has been left unfinished, with a welded construction making sure everything is set in place for years of wear — that is until Dior’s Birkenstock collaboration comes and replaces these in your summer footwear rotation.
For now, Dior’s H-Town Sandal can be seen above and bought online or in its boutiques worldwide, alongside the rest of the Fall 2022 collection, for £740 GBP (or precisely $1,000 USD in the States).
Elsewhere, Diesel is taking boot-cut literally with its latest jean-boot hybrid design.
