"The end of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict in a fairly short time is a great achievement from the point of view of geopolitics. Ukraine, like no one, knows how difficult it is and how much strength and patience it requires. After all, the hostilities in our country have been going on for the eighth year," MP Gennady Vatsak of the Ukrainian parliament, secretary of the Committee on Transport and Infrastructure, has said, Report informs.
He noted that now Armenia and Azerbaijan can only strengthen the still-fragile peace and strive for constant development:
"And here it is very important to be able to negotiate, especially in projects that relate to attracting territories of countries, such as unblocking and setting up transport communications. In this context, it is precisely the opening of the Zangazur corridor for communication between various regions of Azerbaijan and other countries that is important.
“For the development of any region or individual country, various infrastructural, cultural, public projects are always a step forward in establishing relations with neighboring countries, strengthening economic ties. However, such projects should be carried out in such a way that each of the participants in the process is a full-fledged player, and together they take into account the economic feasibility of initiatives, adhere to the principles of mutual respect, respect for mutual rights and protection of the interests of the entire region. Only with this approach can the restoration and stabilization of economic and interethnic relations take place, which are necessary for the establishment of peace, stability in the region and the withdrawal of countries to a qualitatively new international level," Gennady Vatsak added.
