Subsidiary of KazTransOil JSC renews production assets of Batumi seaport

A new Stork-type crane with a lifting capacity of up to 40 tons has been put into operation at Batumi Oil Terminal LLC (100% owned by KazTransOil JSC) to equip the dry cargo terminal of Batumi Sea Port LLC, the Kazakh bureau of Report informs referring to the company's press service.

"Updating the technical infrastructure will increase the port's efficiency, which is important for its further development and competitiveness. This measure is associated with an increase in the share of bulk cargo at Batumi Oil Terminal LLC," reads the statement.

As a result of installing the new portal crane, the technological productivity of the dry cargo terminal of Batumi Sea Port LLC will increase. "In particular, the operational capabilities of servicing large-tonnage vessels such as Handysize and Handymax will increase," the message says.

In January-September 2024, Batumi Sea Port LLC transshipped 1.408 million tons of dry cargo, which is 51,100 tons more than in the nine months of 2023.

As part of its development strategy, Batumi Oil Terminal LLC initiated two significant investment projects aimed at increasing the transshipment volumes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and light oil products. These projects involve modernizing and expanding the terminal's infrastructure, which will allow the company to increase the efficiency of handling these types of cargo, meeting the growing market demand and strengthening the port's competitiveness.

The initiative is part of a long-term plan for port development, which should contribute to increasing its cargo turnover and improving its position as an important logistics hub in the region.
