SCC: Contactless customs services will be organized following Zangazur corridor opening

“New customs checkpoints are being built at new airports with international status. New customs points and customs posts will be opened in each of them,” State Customs Committee Chairman Safar Mehdiyev said, Report informs.

According to him, in connection with the opening of the Zangazur corridor, contactless customs services meeting modern requirements will be organized at the airports.

Mehdiyev said that the Azerbaijani customs authorities are implementing projects to open new customs checkpoints on both the southern and northern borders: “For example, the construction of the Khanoba customs post on the Russian border and the trade facilitation terminal there is expected to be completed this year. We believe that the opening of this customs checkpoint will meet the needs of our import and export operations in the north, as well as allow the passage of more than twice the number of vehicles, to meet our transit potential. In this way, we will eliminate traffic jams during peak hours.”

He noted that this project is being implemented following the relevant order of President Ilham Aliyev: “In the future, it is planned to restructure other checkpoints or build new customs posts.”

Zangilan International Airport is currently under construction in Karabakh. Work is underway to begin construction of Lachin International Airport, and Fuzuli International Airport was commissioned last year.
