The Russian government has imposed a ban on international road transport of goods across the country for transport companies from the EU, Ukraine, Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Norway from October 10, Report informs citing Interfax.
According to the text of the relevant resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, a ban on international trucking in the Russian Federation has been established for carriers registered in countries that have previously introduced appropriate restrictions against Russian transport companies.
In particular, the ban applies to bilateral and transit transportation, as well as transportation from or to the territory of a third state.
The decree comes into force on October 10 and is valid until December 31, 2022.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on September 29, giving the government the authority to impose a ban on cargo transportation across the Russian Federation by road from ‘unfriendly’ countries.
On April 8, a ban came into force for any road transport enterprises established in the Russian Federation and Belarus to transport goods across the territory of the EU, including in transit.
