The opening of the Zangazur Corridor means that cargo arriving by sea from China to Azerbaijan will reach Europe two weeks faster than before, Khudayar Hasanli, head of the Strategic Planning and Development Department of Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC said, Report informs.
Khudayar Hasanli noted that saving time is important for entrepreneurs, and it affects prices:
“Entrepreneurs will get more income this way. Georgian ports are expensive and there is no alternative. If cargo is transported through the Zangazur corridor via the Turkish port of Mersin, it will be twice as cheap. At the same time, the lack of a border-crossing point will affect time and cost.”
Khudayar Hasanli noted that the Zangazur corridor is important in terms of time and cost for regional transportation and global logistics.
“TIRs from Turkiye will go from Nakhchivan through the Zangazur corridor to Baku port and from there to Asia, and vice versa, in less time and at a lower cost. Zangazur Corridor is also important in terms of the transportation of fertilizer products of Central Asian countries,” Hasanli said.
