Mukhtar Babayev: Share of construction sector in emissions is 21%

The share of the construction sector in the emissions to the environment is 21% in Azerbaijan, the COP29 President-Designate, Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev said at the round table themed "Green Construction in Azerbaijan" held in Baku, Report informs.

According to Babayev, the share of aviation and shipping sectors in emissions is around 2%.

"Buildings account for 40% of energy consumption, and in addition, construction works create a large amount of dust in the air. This leads to cardiovascular and respiratory diseases," added the minister.
