More than 46,000 new jobs to be created in transport sector in Baku

By 2040, it is planned to create 46,225 new jobs in the transport sector of Baku, after which the share of the transport sector in total employment will be 7.9%, Report informs with reference to the Master Plan for the Development of Baku until 2040.

In 2019, the number of people employed in the transport sector of Baku reached 89,641 people, and the sector’s share in employment was 6.7%.

Additionally, the transport sector's share in gross domestic product (GDP) will be 8% in 2040.

In 2019, the value of GDP produced in the transport sector amounted to 2.336 billion manats ($1.37 billion), and the share of the sector was 8%.

Economic growth in the transport sector will be 2.5%. In general, 372,375 new jobs will be created in Baku in 2020-2040.
