Khankandi water, sewage collectors to be reconstructed

Water and sewage collectors in the city of Khankandi are planned to be reconstructed, an official at the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency said.

Mushfig Adigozalov, head of the Karabakh Water Melioration Systems Operation Department of the agency's Regional Water Melioration Service, told journalists that preparatory work on the project was continuing, Report informs from Khankandi.

"The water and sewage collectors are currently at the design stage and will be reconstructed," he said.

Adigozalov said the No. 1 water treatment facility operating in Khankandi has the capacity to treat 8,000 cubic metres of water per day.

"After initial chlorination, the water enters sedimentation filters, then passes through sand filters, is chlorinated again and transferred to reservoirs with a capacity of 2,000 cubic metres. From there, the water is supplied to consumers," he said.

He added that a 104-kilometre water network is in operation in Khankandi and that the city is divided into 10 hydraulic zones.

Khankandi is supplied with water around the clock through the No. 1 and No. 2 water treatment facilities, he said.
