Kazakhstan has proposed to create a joint cargo terminal with China in the port of Kuryk on the Caspian Sea coast, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at the China-Central Asia Summit in Astana, Report informs.
According to Tokayev, Central Asia is becoming an important logistics hub connecting the largest regions of Asia and Europe.
Tokayev recalled that in 2024, the total volume of cargo transportation from China through Central Asian countries increased by 12%, exceeding 211,000 containers.

Kazakhstan, representing the first link of the Belt and Road Initiative, supports its integration with major transport corridors such as Western China-Western Europe, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, and the North-South. In order to increase the attractiveness of the Trans-Caspian route, we are taking systematic measures to modernize and digitize the ports of the Caspian Sea, build cargo terminals, and organize the production of transport vessels. We propose to consider the issue of creating a joint cargo terminal with China in the Kuryk port in the Caspian," Tokayev said.
The president noted that Kazakhstan is also ready to create a cargo air hub in Aktobe for the transit of goods to the European Union.
