ICD calls Central Asia future link between East and West

In the coming years, Central Asia will become a vital link between East and West, Mostafa El Eskandarany, a leading expert in the Direct Investment Department of the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD), said at a forum on Azerbaijan's investment prospects, which is being held as part of the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB) in Baku, Report informs.

He emphasized that the region has all the necessary conditions for this – significant natural resources, a young and able-bodied workforce, and a strategically advantageous geographic location.

"In the context of geopolitical transformations and the growing focus of states on domestic markets, issues of energy and food security, as well as the reliability of supply chains, are becoming increasingly important. This, in turn, creates new opportunities for development institutions working in the Central Asian region.

"Over the next five years, Central Asia will hold a key position in the global communications system between East and West," he noted.
