London's Heathrow Airport on Wednesday said its December traffic was boosted by transatlantic travel as it welcomed 5.9 million passengers during the month, a 90% on-year increase, report informs via Market Watch.
The airport--jointly owned by the Qatar Investment Authority, China Investment Corp., Spain's Ferrovial SA and other investment companies--said passenger numbers reached 61.6 million in total in 2022. This is 42.2 million more than in 2021 and 76% of 2019 levels, it said.
"2022 ended on a high with our busiest Christmas in three years and a smooth and efficient service for passengers," said Chief Executive John Holland-Kaye.
