French airlines suspend flights to Lebanon amid security concerns

French aviation giants Air France and Transavia have announced the suspension of flights to Lebanon due to growing concerns over security threats stemming from a potential Israeli operation against the Lebanese Hezbollah movement.

According Report, which cites BFMTV, a spokesperson for Air France stated, "Affected clients will be informed individually and offered solutions for postponement or reimbursement. The airline constantly monitors the development of the geopolitical situation in the territories it serves and flies over to ensure the highest level of flight safety."

The flight suspensions will impact routes scheduled for July 29 and 30. Meanwhile, German carrier Lufthansa Group has extended its ban on flights to the Lebanese capital, Beirut, until August 5 inclusive.

Acting Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib previously revealed that several foreign airlines had halted flights to Beirut due to fears of an Israeli attack on Lebanon.
