Chinese official: Together with Azerbaijan, we must restore historical Silk Road

Together with Azerbaijan, we must restore the historical Silk Road, Shan Li, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and board member of Silk Road Finance Corporation, told Report.

“The ancient Silk Road passes through Azerbaijan. For this reason, Azerbaijan is one of the most important strategic countries in Central Asia, and this is a very important factor in the implementation of the Silk Road project. Since Azerbaijan is very close to the West of China, historical and cultural relations are at a high level,” he said.

According to the Chinese official, his country can rebuild the ancient Silk Road together with Azerbaijan: “For this, China’s local government must be active. There are also logistics companies among the local players. One of the goals of restoring the Silk Road is to support those companies and the development of the economy.”
