Chinese company to join Azerbaijan–Kazakhstan–Georgia railway joint venture

Shareholders of Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd — the joint venture established by the railway operators of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Georgia — have agreed to admit China Railway Container Transport Co., Ltd. (through its subsidiary "Chinese Railway Container Transport LLC") as a member of the enterprise.

Report informs, citing Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ), that the extraordinary general meeting of shareholders took place in Baku.

During his working visit to Baku, KTZ Chairman Talgat Aldybergenov also held talks with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Rashad Nabiyev.

"The meeting addressed key issues related to the development of the Middle Corridor, digitalization of transport processes, implementation of the roadmap for eliminating bottlenecks, and other current areas of cooperation. The parties agreed to launch joint monitoring of container train transit times along the route. This will help stabilize schedules, promptly address logistics challenges, and improve the overall efficiency of the corridor," the statement reads.

Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd was created to enhance and streamline transit transportation along the Middle Corridor. The goal of the venture is to act as a unified operator for this increasingly strategic trade route.
