Cargo traffic through Azerbaijans transport corridors falls 1.4%

Cargo shipments via Azerbaijan"s transport corridors totaled 16.18 million tonnes in the first half of 2025, down 1.4% compared to the same period last year.

Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee that from January to June, rail transport accounted for 7,120,100 tonnes, maritime transport for 3,752,200 tonnes, and road transport for 5,307,700 tonnes.

By corridor, cargo volumes included 8,300,800 tonnes along the East–West route (+1.6%), of which 4,088,900 tonnes moved through the Europe–Caucasus–Asia corridor (−3.6%). The North–South corridor handled 4,690,500 tonnes (−2.4%), North–West 2,930,400 tonnes (−9.8%), and South–West 258,200 tonnes (+42.6%).

Transit freight made up 45.8% of all rail cargo, 42.3% of road cargo, and 95.1% of maritime cargo in the reporting period.
