BTK increases transportations by more than 100 percent 

The cargo transportation by train to Europe in the first quarter of this year increased by 26 percent, said Hasan Pezük, General Manager of TCDD Transportation, Report informs, citing foreign media.

According to him, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has caused changes in the transportation sector too: “Transportations via rail, road, and sea will gain more importance after the pandemic. The truck box transportation also comes to the fore with alternative transportation possibilities.”

“The increase in truck box transportation was the result of the investments made in the railroad in the last 18 years. As the railway develops, the freight transported with the diversification of wagon types has also diversified," he said.

“As TCDD Transport, we realized an increase of 60% in transportation to Iran in 2020, more than 100 percent in transportation via Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the Middle Corridor, and 25 % in transportation to Europe,” he added.
