The head of the European representative office of China’s COSCO Shipping Lines, which owns one of the world's leading container fleets, Wang Mingfeng, along with an accompanying delegation, visited the Port of Baku on February 26, Report informs.

During the visit, the guests were provided with comprehensive information on the Port of Baku’s strategic role in the development of the Silk Road and the non-oil sector, sustainable logistics solutions, efforts to reduce carbon emissions, and the historical development of the port. The discussions also covered COSCO’s contribution to container transportation along the Middle Corridor.

The delegation members closely familiarized themselves with the Port of Baku’s infrastructure projects and operational principles. As part of a tour of the port’s various terminals, the guests were given detailed presentations on the logistics and cargo handling processes, as well as the innovative solutions implemented within the port.

The Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route) connects China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye and Europe. In October 2023, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan signed an agreement to establish a joint railway company, Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd., to improve the efficiency of transit transportation.
