President of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL) Jahangir Asgarov met with Egyptian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hisham Mohammed Nagi Abdel Hamid, Report informs referring to AZAL.
At the meeting, they exchanged views on the agenda of mutual cooperation in civil aviation.
Asgarov said that there is a regular air connection between the countries. Currently, the Egyptian airline Air Cairo organizes a flight once a week from Baku to Sharm el-Sheikh, a resort city located on the coast of the Red Sea and back.
The ambassador emphasized the importance of developing partnership relations in civil aviation to expand the tourism potential of the two countries. He expressed interest in expanding the two countries' air connections and carrying out regular passenger and cargo flights between Cairo and Baku.
The president of AZAL noted that maximum assistance will be provided in the implementation of passenger and cargo transportation between Baku and Cairo, as well as in increasing the number of flights on the route Sharm-e-Sheikh - Baku - Sharm-e-Sheikh.
"If passenger flights from Cairo to Baku are opened, discounts will be applied to the airline Air Cairo at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport in the manner determined by the airport," said Asgarov.
