Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan to carry out container transportations to Europe

“GR Logistics”, a subsidiary of the “Georgian Railways” JSC, will carry out container transportations with feeder vessels from the country’s ports to Europe, Report informs, citing the JSC.

The transportation will be carried out together with the “ADY Container” LLC, owned by “Azerbaijan Railways” OJSC, and Kazakhstan’s “KTZ Express” company.
The first feeder vessel will deliver 146 teu-type containers to Romania’s port of Constanta. After being loaded at the port, the ship will be sent to Germany and Hungary and later to the other cities of Europe.

The JSC said that the launch of the feeder line through the Black Sea ports will contribute to boosting shipments on the Transcaspian international transport route. The routes of container transportation are Europe-China-Europe and Europe-Central Asia-Europe.

The feeder vessel will regularly carry cargos between Poti/Batumi and Constanta ports. The ship with 210 TEU container capacity will be at sea three times a month. The project is supported by the European “Grampet” (Romania) company, a part of the Transcaucasia International Transport Route Consortium. “Rail Cargo” and “Metrans” companies also participate in container shipments.
