Azerbaijan eyes importing almost 3,000 buses from Indonesia

Azerbaijan plans to buy about 3,000 buses from Indonesia, Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Council Bambang Soesatyo said, Report informs via Indonesian media.

He made the remark at a meeting with the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Indonesia, Jalal Mirzayev.

Soesatyo stated that Azerbaijan wants to buy about 3,000 buses from the Korean-Indonesian PT Powerspark joint venture (JV) in the near future.

Earlier, Anar Rzayev, chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (ALTA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, said that 2,000 buses operate on 180 routes in Baku: "The number of buses in the capital is planned to be reached 2,500."

According to Rzayev, 100 new electric buses are planned to be put into use in Baku by the end of 2024.

Soesatyo also noted that Indonesia is a supplier of crude palm oil, coconut oil, wood materials, veneered panels, textiles, and coffee to Azerbaijan:

"Since diplomatic relations were established (between the two countries) on September 24, 1992, cooperation has been carried out in politics, trade, social, culture, and education fields. Azerbaijan is becoming a supplier of crude oil for Indonesia. The two countries’ turnover will reach approximately $255.7 million, with the main commodities being oil and gas."
