Air traffic between Moscow and Baku, which was suspended due to the epidemiological situation, has resumed. According to the Russian Bureau of Report, Azerbaijan Airlines AZAL conducted the first flight.
Orkhan Hajiyev, Economic Adviser to the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia, noted the importance of resuming air traffic: "The citizens of our country have been waiting for the opening of the borders and the start of air traffic for almost a year. The further lifting of restrictions, of course, depends on the development of the epidemiological situation. But today, I would like to congratulate all our citizens."
The passengers did not hide their joy. According to them, the pandemic period was not comfortable: "For a whole year, we did not have the opportunity to fly to Azerbaijan. And there are our parents, relatives, and friends, whom we could not see during the entire period of restrictions. Now we cannot find words to convey your joyful emotions. We hope that the coronavirus will recede, and we will be able to fly safely to our homeland."
Azerbaijan is closed for tourists, and only specific categories of citizens can visit the country. These are:
- The citizens of Azerbaijan.
- Relatives who have Azerbaijani citizenship.
- Foreigners who have a work permit in the country or a residence permit, as well as students.
All categories of citizens will have to undergo a two-week quarantine. A visitor must have a negative coronavirus test valid for 48 hours before departure.
