The Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) has cleared 68,953 hectares of liberated territories of the country from mines and unexploded ordnance, a department head at the ANAMA, Idris Ismayilov, said at a meeting of the working group on transport, communications and high technologies of the Interdepartmental Center operating under the Coordination Headquarters, held at Fizuli International Airport, Report informs.
According to Idris Ismayilov, 82,744 pieces of mines and unexploded ordnance were found in these territories.
“As many as 941 hectares of the territory, through which the Fizuli-Zangilan-Aghband railway will pass, have been cleared, and an additional 77 hectares will be cleared, taking into account the expansion of the foundation of this railway. The Agency continues demining work on sections of the Fizuli-Aghdam, Gubadli-Mahmudlu-Yazy Duzu and Aghdam-Khindarkh-Agjabadi highways. According to the work plan for 2023, it is planned to clear 820.1 hectares of the territory from mines and unexploded ordnance,” he said.
