Shahin Mustafayev, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Co-Chair of the State Commission on Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran, and Farzaneh Sadegh, Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Co-chair of the Commission from Iran, along with their delegations, reviewed progress on the Ordubad-Marazad Hydroelectric Power Plant project, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers.
It was noted that 60% of the construction work on the 36 MW Ordubad Hydroelectric Power Plant, located on the Araz River, has been completed, and additional opportunities should be created by the Iranian side to facilitate the project’s continuation.
During the visit, the delegations also inspected the Julfa border checkpoint and assessed its current state.
The co-chairs expressed confidence that the upcoming visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Azerbaijan, at the invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, would mark a new chapter in bilateral relations. They highlighted the broad potential for cooperation in various fields and reiterated their commitment to completing ongoing projects under the directives of the two presidents.
Deputy Prime Minister Mustafayev also briefed the Iranian delegation on the extensive destruction and looting caused during the 30-year occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia.
