Faced with interruptions in the supply of vehicle harnesses, highly purified neon, and other parts, produced in Ukraine, the German concerns Volkswagen Group and BMW began looking for alternative partners.

Report informs citing Gazeta.ru that this was reported by Automotive News Europe. In particular, deliveries from such distant countries as China and Mexico are considered.

“The search for new supplies is the most pressing issue for the automotive industry, which is already suffering from soaring metals and energy prices, a pandemic disruption to supply chains and a shortage of semiconductor chips,” the report says.

Earlier, due to the events in Ukraine, BMW, Porsche, Volkswagen, Mini factories faced production suspensions in Germany, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported. A representative of Audi (VW premium brand) in a private conversation with the German media noted that the entire group is working to force large suppliers to transfer the production of harnesses from Ukraine to other plants or find alternative suppliers.

Countries from Eastern Europe, North Africa, Mexico, and China are considered as new locations for factories.
