The German energy company Uniper does not intend to renew contracts for the supply of coal from Russia. Also, the company will not sign new long-term contracts for the supply of natural gas, Ukrainskaya Pravda cited the company's report, according to Report.
"The geopolitical situation in Europe has changed dramatically. On February 24, 2022, Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine. Uniper condemns Russia's invasion of Ukraine. With this war, Russia violates international law and the principles of the UN Charter," the statement reads.
Uniper added that it would not make any new investments in Russia.
"Uniper has decided not to renew its contracts for the supply of coal from Russia after 2022. Uniper is already purchasing hard coal from different regions of the world and is implementing a transitional coal diversification strategy," the company said.
