An international chess tournament, jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Chess Federation (ACF), will be held in Shusha, Mahir Mammadov, President of the ACF and Vice-President of the International Chess Federation, said, Report informs.
He said that work has begun on the organization of an international tournament dedicated to the 190th anniversary of Khurshidbanu Natavan, the last heir of the Karabakh khanate, prominent poet, and philanthropist. Along with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Shusha City State Reserve is involved in the organizational work.
According to Mammadov, the tournament between male and female chess players will be in rapid and blitz format. Famous chess players of Azerbaijan and the world are expected to take part in the Shusha tournament to be held on September 21-24. All members of the Azerbaijan national team will be invited.
